A hands-on clinical course designed to refine your veneer workflow – from diagnosis and preparation to seating and predictable results.
Simplifying FMR: A Minimal Approach to Open Bites
This program is designed for cosmetic and restorative dentists who want to master the art of opening vertical dimension in patients with collapsed and edge to edge bites – using a minimal-prep veneer approach that prioritizes esthetics, function, and long-term stability. Through lecture, case review, and live patient demonstration, attendees will learn how to have a successful consultation, design, plan, and execute predictable FMR cases while preserving tooth structure.

Module 1:Vertical Dimension: When, Why, and How to Open
Guidelines for increasing vertical dimension of occlusion (VDO) in open bite cases. Occlusal principles for functional stability, esthetic impact, and avoiding muscle strain.
Module 2:Smile Design & Functional Blueprinting
Integrating facial analysis, midline, incisal edge position, and tooth proportion into functional planning. Using digital smile design (DSD) and 2D/3D mockups for predictable outcomes.
Module 3:Minimal Prep Philosophy in FMR Cases
How to combine additive-only and minimal-prep techniques to preserve enamel and avoid aggressive tooth reduction, even when opening bites.
Module 4:Records for Success
Essential diagnostic records: full-face and intraoral photography, bite registration at proposed new VDO, facebow, mounted models, intraoral scans, and phonetic evaluation.
Module 5:Wax-Up & Trial Smile for VDO Evaluation
Communicating with your lab for functional wax-ups. Using mockups and provisionals to verify esthetics, phonetics, and patient comfort at new VDO before committing to final ceramics.
Module 6:Preparation Sequence for Minimal Prep FMR
Step-by-step prepping for full arches in a single day with minimal reduction, ensuring uniform thickness for ceramics while maintaining enamel for maximum bond strength.
Module 7:Bite Opening Provisionalization Protocol
Fabricating long-term provisionals to test functional comfort and esthetic acceptance before final seating. Adjusting occlusion and anterior guidance during provisional phase.
Module 8:Managing the TMJ During Bite Opening
Avoiding joint overload when altering VDO; deprogramming protocols and patient adaptation techniques.
Module 9:Bonding Protocols for Full Arch Minimal Prep Veneers
Surface prep, adhesive selection, seating sequence, and cement cleanup for predictable full-mouth seating days.
Module 10:Post-Delivery Follow-Up & Maintenance
Delivery of occlusal guards, post-op occlusal adjustments, hygiene protocols, and patient education for long-term success.
Module 11:Case Selection & Risk Management
